Dark Horizon! The first West Coast-style haunt in the East

On October 10, Theme Park Warrior attended an exclusive media event for the opening of Dark Horizon, a West Coast style haunt from the “…creators, producers, and directors of one of the most terrifying haunts in the world, The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor.

According to the creators:

Dark Horizon emerges in Orlando with much anticipation, to feast upon your fears, fray your nerves, and curdle your blood. Escape the clutches of one of Florida’s most infamous serial killer’s, Bloody Ed Watson. Navigate Captain Killigrew’s ship and her deviously mad crew, and wade past the Vodou Priestess before she has a chance to evoke the otherwordly spirits to possess your body and steal your soul. Hundreds of heinous monsters await to drag you toward the event horizon. Thrill-seekers will revel in 16 nights of terror featuring three gruesome haunted houses, immersive bars, festive fare, death-defying entertainment and more! Brought to you by some of the most celebrated minds in the industry, don’t miss Dark Horizon, the Halloween event of the season.

Theme Park Warrior explored the 3 key haunted zone: The Port, The Glades and the Village. Be sure to check out our YouTube channel for an exclusive walkthrough.

The first area is, The Port. This zone features the Dark Horizons gift shop, numerous eating areas, a 4-D experience, and of course the first haunted house: Ghostship. And if you keep your eyes peeled, you might spot the most notorious female pirate in all of Florida: Captain Killigrew.

Next, there’s The Glades. Modeled after early 1900’s Florida, Bloody (Ed) Watson, Florida’s first Cereal killer, and his murderous buddies have taken refuge in the 10,000 uncharted islands known as The Glades. The area is home to The Outpost Pub, Gator grub, and the haunted house: Murder Island.

Finally, feel the enchantment as you walk between worlds and find yourself in, The Village. You can seek refuge at the Shelter Patio before walking through the haunted waters to reach Vodou, the final haunted house of Dark Horizon. Whatever you do, don’t run into the priestess Mambo Cecile. You might not make it out alive.
